Refereeing Clip No.8

Borja got a No-Let. I think he should have got a Let, as Willstrop's follow-through is :
a) bordering on the excessive, and
b) not allowing Borja to get through. The shot has already bounced in the front court, and has slowed down sufficiently for someone like Borja to return it before it goes to the back corner

Yeah I agree that it should be a let. Golan would certainly have got the ball but i do not think he would have created a winner and his shot path to the front wall was not bloked, so a let seems right choice.

My only issue is actually whether Willstrop should be penalised as his swing could be looked at as being dangerous with such a follow through.

I can't make out the ball on this one. But it clearly highlights what whacky serve-return prep Borja has. I've never seen anyone, at any level, hold the racquet up toward the stars that way while waiting for a serve.

It just takes the concept of racket preperation to another level!!

Difficult one this. I would err on the side of no let. Willstrop has played a good shot & done nothing wrong. Golan has positionned himself too close to Willstrop in an attempt to cover any eventuality. However this is close. I may have given a let but would have advised Golan that he was a bit too close &that he had got the benefit of doubt this time round.

Yes let. Willistrop has gone for a killer drive but has not played it fast enough or deep enough to prevent Golan from getting to it, if he had been allowed access.
